Albuquerque New Mexico launches first Solar Powered Farmers’ Market! Posted by administrator

Solar is sexy and Albuquerqe’s Downtown Grower’s Market utilizes the suns natural energy on a weekly basis. The weekly Famers’ Market is powered by a “solar roller” provided by Clean Switch. Clean Switch partnered with the market to use a rolling solar panel which powers everything from the band, to the ATM, to the coffee grinder.  The solar roller provides about 240 watts and converts DC power to AC power so that the energy can be applied to everyday appliances. Clean Switch hopes that more markets will take advantage of their technology and strive to become “green markets.” As for many of San Diego’s local Farmers’ Markets Pop N’ Mama Kettlekorn is already powered by solar panel at the markets. They use a similar technology but on a smaller scale. To find a market near you visit http://www.sdfarmbureau.org/BuyLocal/Farmers-Markets.php
